I love Brett Dennen

I don't generally gravitate toward undiscovered musical talent (read: I'm a Top 40s junkie), but I've been listening to Brett for quite some time now and he always makes me smile.

Dawww, look at that red hair!

This must be how Brett gets his look.

He's awkwardly tall, has flaming red hair, and speaks with a bit of a lisp. He's adorable. He's a tree-hugging, peace-promoting hippie and I love it. His music has been featured on TV shows like House and Grey's Anatomy, yet people still don't seem to know who he is. He has toured with Jason Mraz and John Mayer and he'll be releasing his fourth album this summer; Brett has been around for awhile and he's fairly established in the music world. So why don't people know about him?

Oh yeah, he also designs all of the artwork for his albums.

He's a charity man and a goof. Check out his website; you can't not love him. He reminds me of Birkenstock sandals, tye-dye, charities, and global progress. His music is catchy and interesting; he doesn't write meaningless choruses or trite lyrics. "Ain't No Reason" is awesome because it makes me sad every time I listen to it.

"Ain't No Reason" - SO GOOD

He's even gotten Mandy Moore to perform in one of his videos. Not only is "Make you Crazy" one of his best songs (yeah, yeah, personal opinion), but it's also got an awesome music video to go along with it.

"Make you Crazy" - ALSO SO GOOD

Bahaha. Let's be friends.
Brett makes me want to walk around barefoot, hug people, and start a non-profit organization. He just seems like the nicest guy in the world. He's 31 years old, but he looks and sounds like he's about 18. There's just something so charming about a big, giant guy who wears funny glasses, likes plaid, and shuns footwear. Dirty hippie. I think he's great.

  1. I love Brett! I was lucky enough to get to see him live at the Life is Good festival last September. He was fantastic! If he ever comes to this coast again, I will be there. I own all of his albums and eagerly await the next. I have been a fan of his for a while now and it was great to see him showcased on your blog!
